This is an article about a gamemode




Factions was one of the gamemodes of Minecraft Central. It was added on the 6th of July 2014. The idea of Factions was to have a faction that was the most powerful. There used to be two Factions servers, 1 of which was added on the 3rd of March 2015. The realms combined into one on the 23rd of March 2018. Factions was removed on the 26th of August 2022.

The maximum amount of players was increased from 300 to 350 on the 25th of June 2019, and to 375 on the 9th of August 2019. It was further increased on the 11th of August 2019 to 400 players and to 450 on the 1st of May 2020. On the 17th of August 2020 the limit became 600 players.

General Info[]

The goal was to either create or join a faction and build a base that other players couldn't raid. Factions had power and claims which needed to be in balance. Factions was a very PvP-based gamemode and many things that normally weren't allowed, such as death-trapping and scamming, were allowed.

There were Overworld, the Nether, the End, Wasteland and Swampland worlds.

On Factions 4.0 some new Factions perks that could be purchased from the web store were added on the 31st of January 2016. These included 15 Set homes, No Fall Damage, TNT Fill Command, Kit Cannon, Kit Potions and stacking potions. The stacking potions ability was removed on the 3rd of February 2016.

The item selector for Factions was a TNT block. The NPC in Lobbies was a knight who was holding a TNT block. No data was linked between the two Factions servers.

Resets[]

There were 50 resets to Factions.

The first reset added a new spawn and added some small new features such as a PvP arena. This happened on the 21st of December 2014 when Factions 2.0 was released.

Factions 3.0 added a new spawn and also some bug fixes on the 30th of May 2015. Some shop items were added and Enderchests, Anvils and Enchanting tables became breakable by TNT.

Factions 4.0 added a new spawn, more balanced TNT Cannons, auctions and an all-flat End world. /Sell hand and loot protection were also added. A teleportation delay was also added to the command /f home. This happened on the 25th of January 2016.

On the 2nd of September 2016 Factions 5.0 was released. It added a simple PvP arena (/warp FPS), new maps, changes to kits and Treasure Chests and /F Top command. A bounty system was also added. In addition, KOTH (King of the Hill) was introduced.

Factions 6.0 was released on the 9th of February 2017. It added a new spawn, made bedrock layer flat on all worlds, added a new PvP arena, new commands, and small changes. In addition, new gameplay features were added, such as GenBuckets, water in the Nether and a special world for KOTH.

Factions 7.0 was released on the 21st of June 2017. A new spawn, PvP arena, and market were added. The Nether was made flat, Sell Wands were added, Obsidian GenBuckets, Chest Envoys and /StatsTop were added and multiple bugs fixed.

On the 17th of November 2017 Factions 8.0 was released. A new spawn and PvP arena (FPS arena) were added. The shop became a GUI instead of a warp shop. The End world borders were now at 5000x5000. Zombie Pigman spawners were added, Horizontal GenBuckets and Sand GenBuckets were also added. In addition some Ancient Treasure rewards were changed and the Potion and Cannon kits were changed.

On the 23rd of March 2018 Factions 9.0 was released. The Factions server had been down since the 21st of March. The realms were combined into one server. The reset added a new spawn, Outposts, new factions plugin, new commands, Wasteland world, Factions rules and much more.

Factions 10.0 changed multiple things to make playing easier. This reset happened on the 29th of April 2018. New items were added to the shop, new commands (such as /filter and /trade) made and payouts changed to be weekly instead of per-season. The 10th season of Factions ended on the 3rd of June 2018.

The 11th season begun on the 9th of June 2018. A new spawn and Boss Event was added, along with the world border being expanded to 10k x 10k. Multiple smaller changes were made and bugs fixed. Later, on the 12th of June 2018 Wager Duels were introduced to Factions. Players could duel each other and gamble for items. They sent a request to a player, and if they accepted it, both players could put some items that they wanted to gamble with. The player who won the duel got the items. The 11th season of Factions ended on the 29th of August 2018.

The 12th season begun on the 1st of September 2018. A new spawn and a new bounties plugin were added. Many bugs were fixed and some cosmetic changes were made to commands and items. Lapis rank got a new perk, keeping EXP upon dying. The gameplay was also balanced by changing the prices of some items and changing the enchantments of Envoy armour from Protection 5 to Protection IV.

Factions 13.0 was released on the 17th of November 2018. The previous season had ended on the 11th of November 2018. Season 13.0 added back PayPal rewards, the total rewards being $2,500. mcMMO was also added but only partially, as all features that affected PvP were disabled. mcMMO didn't last very long before being removed. New GenBuckets, /clearlag command, /togglefall command and /f chest log command were added. The member limit of factions was changed from 45 to 40, capture time of outposts was reduced and some changes were made to command outputs and messages. Moderators also got the ability to use CoreProtect, as it was previously only for Senior Moderators. A new spawn was also added, along with Last Man Standing Event. Factions season 13.0 ended on the 11th of January 2019.

Factions 14.0 was launched on the 18th of January 2019. As always, a new spawn was added. A new feature, Throwable Creeper Eggs was added, along with an /invsee command to Emerald ranks and higher. The durability of obsidian was changed from 3 to 5, some game mechanics were changed (Golden apple cooldowns, confirmation GUIs with commands etc.) and some bugs were fixed. The Last Man Standing kit was also slightly edited. Custom Enchants weren't added at the start of the season but they were implemented on the 22nd of January 2019. This season ended on the 16th of March 2019.

The next season, Factions 15.0 was launched on the 23rd of March 2019. A new spawn was added, along with some new commands, such as /f stealth, Faction warbanners, /f lowpower and /roam which became a new perk from Treasure Chests. Faction truces were removed, the maximum power of a player increased from 50 to 75, Harvest Hoe Upgrades, Obsidian Breaker custom enchant and Tray mode to Blast Pickaxes added and Kit Potion was changed to Kit Enchant. Kit Cannon was also changed a bit. TnTFill was given to all players and the players who had that as a perk got the /roam perk in return. This season ended on the 31st of May 2019.

The 16th season, Factions 16.0 launched on the 7th of June 2019. A new spawn and a new PvP/KOTH world was added. Multiple bugs were fixed and some new features were added. A new queue system was introduced for the SOTW (start of the world), Enderman spawners were replaced by Zombie Pigman spawners in Envoys, 3 new faction permissions were added (/f title, /f tag, /f desc), the amount of harvested Sugar Cane would now be display in /stats, /filter plugin was removed, TNT Wands got a throttle feature, Treasure Chest rewards were changed and /f alts added. This season ended on the 2nd of August 2019.

Factions 17.0 was launched on the 9th of August 2019. The spawn for this season was the same as Factions 10.0, with some small changes. Plugin performance was improved, new faction permissions added and a new command /f croptop was introduced. Some changes to the printer plugin were made, Envoys were made to spawn 10 seconds apart, /invsee NAME * and Faction Inspect were added. Faction Inspect allowed faction members to use CoreProtect in their own claims. The way factions value was calculated was also changed, as the value was made to increase during 24 hours. Factions 17.0 ended on the 5th of October 2019.

Factions 18.0 started on the 12th of October 2019. A new spawn and a new KOTH world were added. In addition, the ability to select the faction banner was introduced, /coords command, TNT Storage logs and new /chest plugin were added. Ancient and Mythical armour were changed a bit and Harvest Hoes now also tilled dirt in a 3x3 area. Some Factions rules were changed and multiple bugs were fixed. A new server event was introduced, as Care Packages were added. These dropped in the Nether, End and Wasteland warzones and contained loot. This season ended on the 6th of December 2019.

The 19th season, Factions 19.0 launched on the 13th of December 2019. For the first time the season length would be 4 weeks instead of 8 weeks. This season used an old Factions spawn from season 12.0. The Outposts and world spawns were updated to a new design. New features, such as /f shield, /f croptop, new genbuckets, Grinder custom enchantment and a custom banner designer were added. Coinflips were updated, the functionality of /roam was improved and some Treasure Chest rewards were changed, such as armour enchantments. The size of factions was reduced from 40 to 25. This could be upgraded up to 30 members. The season ended on the 10th of January 2020.

The 20th season, Factions 20.0 was released on the 17th of January 2020. This season was 4 weeks long and had few content updates, focusing mostly on quality of life updates. The spawn was the same one that was used on the previous season and season 12.0. The starter kit was upgraded, the amount of Throwable Creeper Eggs from Treasure Chests was increased and custom enchantments could now be combined into level II with two level I books. The Factions playtime was added to the command /stats and the Treasure Chest message now also mentioned which reward the player got. The command /payout was added and a new Last Man Standing arena was added. The season was concluded on the 14th of February 2020.

Factions 21.0 was launched on the 21st of February 2020. A new spawn was added. Multiple bugs were fixed. New features included Sandbots (/f sandbot), /warp war alias, the ability to invsee one's own faction members, /ct command for combat tag duration and /f bans. /F bans allowed players to see how many players from the faction had been banned for Severity 3 Client Modifications. Voting Treasure rewards were updated and Upgradeable Harvest Hoes were redone to have 4 upgrades. The voting rewards were also changed from 4 TNT and $1,000 in-game to 4 Creeper Eggs and $20,000. This season ended on the 20th of March 2020.

Factions 22.0 was launched on the 27th of March 2020. This season used the same spawn as the previous season. Core Chunks were added and the way /f shield worked was changed to be 30 chunks around the core chunk. Many features regarding the event world were changed, bugs were fixed and the faction logs were changed to be under one command, /f logs. Every player was given access to the command /disposal, efficiency in Blast Mine Pickaxes was increased and /f history was added to show which factions a player had been part of. In addition, 2 new log commands were added, /f log claims and /f log management. The latter showed promotions/demotions/kicks/invites. The season came to an end on the 24th of April 2020.

The 23rd season of Factions was released on the 1st of May 2020. The spawn design was the same as the two previous seasons. It was a reset which didn't focus on new content. There were instead some changes to the economy and some bug fixes. Many performance improvements were also made. The faction TNT storage size was increased to 13 million from 5 million. Event Treasures also now gave more money. The season ended on the 30th of May 2020.

The next season, Factions 24.0 was released on the 5th of June 2020. A new spawn design was added. The amount of worlds was increased by one when the Swampland world was added. In addition some changes were made to special items, such as Gen Buckets getting a Patch mode, the ability to combine Sell and TNT Wand uses and Mystery spawners now gave random spawners each time, rather than x amount of one spawner type. Two new commands, /f focus and /f unfocus were added to highlight a player to the other faction members. The Overworld size was reduced from 7500x7500 to 5000x5000 and a 5% house share was added to Coinflips. A new Boss Event was also added to Factions. The season ended on the 4th of July 2020.

Factions 25.0 was launched on the 11th of July 2020. This reset didn't add that many new features. It used the same spawn as Factions 24.0. The reset focused on quality of life updates, such as shortcuts for certain commands, merging Rename Scrolls, action bar changes in /roam and /disguise, a change in the scoreboard layout and a revamp of /stats. The shop got some updates, such as new blocks and an option to use "Fill Inventory" when buying items. In addition the 10 minute potions were removed from the kits. The season ended on the 8th of August 2020.

Factions 26.0 was released on the 14th of August 2020. A new spawn was added, along with a new area to the server, called the Obscure Zone. The two Outposts were merged into one. The Obscure Zone is an area which players can kill special mobs in. Each mob drops a shard which can be sold. PvP is enabled in the area and the only way to leave the area is through a portal at one end of the Obscure Zone. There were also many buffs to Factions: factions could now have 20 members (upgradeable to 25 with upgrades), power per player was changed from 125 to 150, KOTH wins now also granted the faction increased mob spawns for 4 hours and the faction shield was extended from 8 hours to 10 hours. Last Man Standing also got a revamp where more maps were added and teaming was made more difficult. Faction allies were removed and there were many bug fixes. A new cannon jar was also added. The season ended on the 12th of September 2020.

On the 19th of September 2020 Factions 27.0 was released. It was an update with very few content updates and it mostly focused on small quality of life changes. The 1.10x sell booster from Outposts was made to apply to Obscure Shards, the price of Obscure Shards was changed from $2,500 to $3,500, /mobtop was added, the price of Custom Enchantments was reduced from 30 to 25 levels, a new kit called Kit Raid was added and Kit Cannon removed and some Treasure Chest rewards were changed. The economy was also changed from a sugar cane-focused economy to a nether wart-focused one. Later on the 21st of September 2020 Immortal ranks got a 4th virtual chest and the default amount of sethomes was increased to 2 instead of 1. The season ended on the 16th of October 2020.

Factions 28.0 was released on the 23rd of October 2020. A new spawn was added, along with some new features. These included a raid timer plugin, raid logs, fortified chunks system (server-side cannon rules), Sand Wands (destroys a sand column), health indicators above players and Guardian spawners (from crate rewards). In addition multiple changes were made, such as making /fix available to everyone (costs $5,000 to lower ranks than Bedrock), access to /tps command, larger radius for Tray Pickaxes and a new shop design. The duration of Strength and Speed Potions was changed from 1:30 to 4:00. The amount of Throwable Creeper Eggs was increased to 3 in Kit Raid. The season came to an end on the 20th of November 2020.

The 29th season, Factions 29.0, was released on the 27th of November 2020. The reset focused on fixing bugs and making small changes. The spawn was the same as the previous season. There were some changes to the faction mechanics: factions could now have 1 ally, the size of factions was decreased to 10 players, the faction upgrade of more members was disabled and a new command /f corners was added. This command allowed players to see who had claimed each corner. This also came with a change of only 1 corner claim per faction and an improved way to remove clashing claims in the corners. A new command /Events was added, showing all of the server events and a countdown to them. The Treasure Chest rewards were also changed, as Hoppers were removed from all Treasure Chests and the Voting Treasure got new rewards. These included a Sand Wand, a TNT Wand and a TNT Voucher. The amount of EXP from the Voting Treasure was also increased. In addition, brewing Regeneration II potions was disabled and Creeper drops were changed to 4 TNT instead of 3. The season ended on the 23rd of December 2020.

On the 1st of January 2021 Factions 30.0 was released. This reset added few features and was a very small one. The spawn was the same as the previous season. The changes included a cannon bug fix and backend plugin updates. Harvest Hoes would now display the amount of broken crops and the price of Obsidian Gen Buckets was changed from 3k to 2k. The season ended on the 29th of January 2021.

Factions 31.0 was released on the 5th of February 2021 and brought many new updates. A new spawn build and two new King of the Hill maps were released. The biggest feature was the addition of the Raid Outpost. This outpost featured a base which factions could try to raid. Once they breach the base, they get bonuses which last as long as they control the base. Rewards are given every hour, and feature armour, money and a health boost. The chest logs were also improved by detailing custom items in the logs, instead of using the Minecraft item names. The amount of players per faction was changed to 15 from 10 and faction allies were removed. The season ended on the 5th of March 2021.

The 32nd season, Factions 32.0, was released on the 13th of March 2021. It was a no-content season, meaning that no major content was added. The spawn was the same as the previous season. Some plugins were updated and the printer was made to be faster. The season ended on the 9th of April 2021.

Factions 33.0 was released on the 16th of April 2021. It used the same spawn as the previous season. It mainly featured bug fixes, such as fixes to staffmode and teleporting bugs. One new feature was the addition of being able to create multiple banknotes by doing /withdraw [value] [amount]. The season ended on the 14th of May 2021.

On the 21st of May 2021 Factions 34.0 was released. It was the first season in a while not to have payouts. These were removed due to Mojang's EULA policy. There were no significant changes this season. The season ended on the 5th of September 2021. This season was the longest season in a long time.

The 35th season, Factions 35.0, was released on the 10th of September 2021. It featured major changes that made Factions EULA-compliant. Payouts were returned but all pay-to-win elements were removed. This meant that almost all donator perks were removed, including kits. The donator perks were made available to all players. Ancient Treasures and Mythical Treasures were replaced by Dungeon Treasures. In addition, the Kit Rookie was changed, Voting Villager added and a new Basic Hoe introduced. Harvest Hoes were renamed to Premium Hoes. Raid Outpost leaderboards were also added to the Raid Outpost. Several faction-related things were also modified, such as removal of allies, changes to faction size and Faction Shield duration to 16 hours. The season would now be 2 weeks long. It ended on the 24th of September 2021.

Factions 36.0 was released on the 25th of September 2021. It was a 13 day season and featured only small changes. 4 new Raid Outpost warps were added (for each cardinal direction) and two new commands, /paypal and /giftcard were added. The grace period was changed to 4 days and some factions rules were updated. The spawn and other builds stayed the same as the previous season. The season ended on the 8th of October 2021.

The 37th season, Factions 37.0, was released on the 15th of October 2021. It had no major changes. This season ended on the 29th of October 2021. Factions 38.0 was released on the 5th of November 2021. Similar to the last reset, there were no major changes apart from some Factions rules changes. The season ended on the 19th of November 2021. The 39th season, Factions 39.0, was released on the 26th of November 2021. It had no major changes. The season came to an end on the 10th of December 2021.

The 40th season, Factions 40.0, was released on the 17th of December 2021. The season had no payout and there weren't any changes to the previous season. The season came to an end on the 31st of December 2021. Similar to the previous resets, Factions 41.0 was released on the 7th of January 2022 and had no changes to the previous seasons. It also had no payout. The season ended on the 21st of January 2022. The 42nd season, Factions 42.0, started on the 28th of January 2022 with no changes to the previous season. It ended on the 11th of February 2022. The 43rd season, Factions 43.0, started on the 18th of February 2022 with no changes to the previous season. This season ended on the 4th of March 2022. Factions 44.0 was released on the 11th of March 2022 with no changes. The season ended on the 25th of March 2022. Factions 45.0 was released on the 1st of April 2022 with no changes and ended on the 15th of April 2022.Factions 46.0 was released on the 22nd of April 2022 and there weren't any changes. The season ended on the 6th of May 2022. A new season, Factions 47.0, started on the 13th of May 2022 and ended on the 27th of May 2022. The 48th season started on the 3rd of June 2022 and ended on the 17th of June 2022. The 49th season was released on the 24th of June 2022 and the season ended on the 8th of July 2022.

The 50th season, Factions 50.0, was released on the 15th of July 2022 and it ended on the 29th of July 2022. Factions 51.00 was released on the 5th of August 2022 and the season ended on the 19th of August 2022. This was the final season of Factions, as Factions was removed on the 26th of August 2022 before a new season could begin.

Custom Enchants[]

Custom Enchants

Custom Enchants were added during Factions 14.0, on the 22nd of January 2019. Players could add enchants to their armour and tools. In order to get the Strength and Fire Resistance effects, the enchantment needed to be applied to all armour pieces. If the player had Strength I on one armour piece, and the others were Strength II, they still only got the Strenght I effect. When buying Custom Enchants, players got 1 random book that they could drag onto the armour in their inventory. Each Custom Enchant cost 25 EXP levels. (The cost used to be 30 levels before the 19th of September 2020 and Factions 27.0).

Faction Upgrades[]

Faction Upgrades were a feature that the players could use to upgrade their faction. They were first added on the 23rd of March 2018 with Factions 9.0. Upgrade Tokens could be received from Envoys and Event Treasure.

Raid Outpost[]

Factions Raid Outpost

Raid Outpost was added on the 5th of February 2021 with Factions 31.0. The outpost was a separate world where a pre-built base spawned and factions tried to raid it. Once a faction conquered the base, they gained control over it. The faction got bonuses while it controlled the base, but they needed to also defend it from other factions.
